    Description

    Great fan from the turn of the century.  The Eiffel Tower opened in 1889 and I'm sure this type of souvenir was being produced over that time.   The fan is the palette design and the "Scherenschnitte-cut"
    silhouettes
    of black paper were glued to the heavy palette and the palette edge was beveled and painted with gold.  The 2 person pallet design at 4 fr. in the day would be about US.00 today.  The fan
    is 5-3/4" wide and 8" high.  The costume in the
    silhouettes was typical of the period.
